حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ، قَالَ: نا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ دُكَيْنٍ، نا أَبُو خَلْدَةَ،

«قَالَ: دَخَلْنَا عَلَى مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ أَنَا , وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَوْنٍ، فَرَحَّبَ بِنَا وَقَالَ: «مَا أَدْرِي مَا أُتْحِفُكُمْ؟ كُلُّ رَجُلٍ مِنْكُمْ فِي بَيْتِهِ خُبْزٌ وَلَحْمٌ , وَلَكِنْ سَأُطْعِمُكُمْ شَيْئًا لَا أَرَاهُ فِي بُيُوتِكُمْ , فَجَاءَ بِشُهْدَةٍ , فَكَانَ يَقْطَعُ بِالسِّكِّينِ وَيَلْقِمُنَا»
