١٩١١٧ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، أَخْبَرَنِي رَجُلٌ، مِنْ بَجِيلَةَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ أَبِي أَوْفَى يَقُولُ: كَانَتْ جَارِيَةٌ تَضْرِبُ بِالدُّفِّ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَجَاءَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ عُمَرُ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ عُثْمَانُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمْ فَأَمْسَكَتْ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:

«إِنَّ عُثْمَانَ رَجُلٌ حَيِيٌّ»
