Sunan al-Darimi 191
Abd Allah ibn Abd al-Rahman al-Darimi
«" كَيْفَ أَنْتُمْ إِذَا لَبِسَتْكُمْ فِتْنَةٌ يَهْرَمُ فِيهَا الْكَبِيرُ، وَيَرْبُو فِيهَا الصَّغِيرُ، وَيَتَّخِذُهَا النَّاسُ سُنَّةً، فَإِذَا غُيِّرَتْ قَالُوا: غُيِّرَتِ السُّنَّةُ " «إِذَا كَثُرَتْ قُرَّاؤُكُمْ، وَقَلَّتْ فُقَهَاؤُكُمْ، وَكَثُرَتْ أُمَرَاؤُكُمْ، وَقَلَّتْ أُمَنَاؤُكُمْ، وَالْتُمِسَتِ الدُّنْيَا بِعَمَلِ الْآخِرَةِ»»
Its text does not say these are the Prophet’s words ﷺ, so they are not framed in gold.

١٩١ - أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْلَى، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ شَقِيقٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ: " كَيْفَ أَنْتُمْ إِذَا لَبِسَتْكُمْ فِتْنَةٌ يَهْرَمُ فِيهَا الْكَبِيرُ، وَيَرْبُو فِيهَا الصَّغِيرُ، وَيَتَّخِذُهَا النَّاسُ سُنَّةً، فَإِذَا غُيِّرَتْ قَالُوا: غُيِّرَتِ السُّنَّةُ " . قَالُوا: وَمَتَى ذَلِكَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ؟ قَالَ: «إِذَا كَثُرَتْ قُرَّاؤُكُمْ، وَقَلَّتْ فُقَهَاؤُكُمْ، وَكَثُرَتْ أُمَرَاؤُكُمْ، وَقَلَّتْ أُمَنَاؤُكُمْ، وَالْتُمِسَتِ الدُّنْيَا بِعَمَلِ الْآخِرَةِ» [تعليق المحقق] إسناده صحيح
